What is an incubator?

An incubator is typically a glorified office space with a promise to “accelerate” your business. A subsidised [sometimes even free office space with bare minimum facilities added with a few business talks make for an incubator.

Sometimes governments run them in hopes of replicating the successes of Silicon Valley. Sometimes investors run them in the hopes of catching a unicorn.

Most often organisations want to put “startup” as part of their strategy and the leaders want to check one extra item in their action plan.

There are hardly any successful incubators. While a few incubators put big logos next to them, it is not clear whether the incubator contributed to the success of the said incubated company.
